The Prime Minister has instructed the Education Ministry to explore measures to reduce traffic congestion in the city during school hours.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today instructed the Education Ministry to explore alternative measures to ease traffic congestion in the capital during school hours.
He issued the directive during a meeting with Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon and State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj at the Bangladesh Secretariat this morning.
Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman said the meeting discussed possible ways to reduce traffic congestion during school hours, including introducing alternative arrangements.
“The Prime Minister asked the ministry to prepare proposals in this regard,” he said.
Ruman explained that in some cases, around 100 cars gather in front of a school with only 150 students, leading to severe traffic congestion and making it difficult for students to reach their institutions.
The Prime Minister advised the ministry to address these issues and come up with viable alternatives.
Following the meeting, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood Tuku and State Minister Aninda Islam Amit also met the Prime Minister. Later, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan paid a courtesy call on him.
