Students Against Discrimination has announced that it will host a March for Unity at the Central Shaheed Minar today in support of the interim government's initiative to create a declaration of the July uprising based on national consensus. As of 2:30 am today, student leaders had not clarified whether they would officially proclaim the July uprising as initially planned on Sunday. "We sincerely urge the people of Bangladesh to participate in this event," said Arif Sohel, member secretary of the platform, after a nearly four-hour meeting at the Students Against Discrimination office in Banglamotor.

Shortly after the students made their announcement on Sunday, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam stated that the government had no involvement in the students’ planned proclamation event. However, the interim government later declared that it would prepare a declaration on the July uprising based on national consensus. This announcement created uncertainty about whether the students would proceed with their event, leading them to hold further discussions.

By 1:30 am, Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, expressed support for the government's decision. "If the government proceeds with this based on the input of all groups involved in the movement to remove the Awami League government, including political parties, it will ensure sustainability," he said. According to the Chief Adviser's Press Wing, the declaration will aim to strengthen the unity formed during the July mass uprising, uphold the anti-fascist spirit, and promote state reform, as reported by UNB.

The declaration will be created by consulting all political parties, Students Against Discrimination, and other student organizations. It will emphasize the significance of the July uprising, the foundation of unity, and the aspirations of the people.

The government intends to present this declaration to the nation within a few days.

Previously, the leaders of Students Against Discrimination had planned a "Proclamation of July Revolution" event at the Central Shaheed Minar today. The students, along with the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, have called on supporters from districts and upazilas to attend the event. They also extended invitations to BNP, Jamaat, Gono Odhikar Porishad, left-wing parties, and civil society members.

Invitations were also sent to those injured during the uprising, the families of martyrs, as well as doctors, teachers, laborers, and garment workers. Students Against Discrimination, which led the mass uprising that ousted the Hasina-led government, is preparing to present a vision for a society free of discrimination. The declaration aims to ensure equality, human dignity, and social justice, with a focus on recognizing people as sovereign entities. It will also provide a brief timeline of events, starting from the quota reform movement to the fall of the regime.

The Proclamation of Independence from the 1971 Liberation War, announced on April 17, emphasized equality, human dignity, and social justice as core principles. The leaders plan to revisit significant historical events, including those of 1947 and 1971, to evaluate why the aspirations of various movements were not fully realized.
