Finance Minister vows deregulation, police support to boost US investment.
Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury on Wednesday assured a US business delegation that the BNP government would prioritize deregulation, reduce bureaucratic hurdles and provide strong policy support to attract American investment.
Responding to US business leaders’ interest in Bangladesh’s “huge” investment potential, the finance minister welcomed them to establish or expand their operations in the country without fear or concern.
The meeting was held at the Secretariat.
Amir Khosru said the government was pursuing deregulation to eliminate red tape and curb corruption. He said the administration inherited an economy that had been weakened and manipulated for more than 15 years and was now working to restore stability and accelerate growth.
He added that the government had already taken steps and was preparing further initiatives to simplify regulations, ensure greater transparency in state-owned and private institutions, make policy support more accessible and create a more business-friendly environment.
