The government is actively working to ensure quality education for students at the primary level.

Govt Committed to Ensuring Equitable, Quality Primary Education: Dr Poddar
Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar has said the government is committed to ensuring equitable and high-quality education for primary school students across the country.
“As part of this effort, the government has introduced a School Feeding Programme (SFP) to enhance the quality of education by providing nutritious food to safeguard students’ health,” he said.
Dr Poddar made these remarks while addressing the ‘Government Primary School Feeding Programme Roll-out Session’ workshop, held at the Begum Rokeya Auditorium of the Rangpur RDRS Bhaban, where he attended as the chief guest.
The event was jointly organized by the Directorate of Primary Education and the World Food Programme (WFP).
Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Abu Noor Md Shamsuzzaman chaired the session.
Highlighting the objectives of the programme, the Adviser said it aims to increase school attendance, reduce dropout rates, improve students’ nutrition, and strengthen their focus on learning.
Emphasizing the importance of students’ health and safety, he called on all stakeholders to ensure proper preservation and hygienic distribution of food.
Speaking at the event, the Director General noted that the government has undertaken multiple initiatives to enhance the quality of primary education and improve student health, aiming to build a skilled and capable future generation.
“As part of these efforts, the school feeding programme is being introduced. In its initial phase, nutritious food will be provided to 3.13 million students across 19,419 government primary schools in 150 upazilas,” he added.
Among other distinguished guests were Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Abu Taher Md Masud Rana, Director of the Directorate of Primary Education Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, Project Director Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, Head of the WFP Bangladesh School Feeding Department Emma Lefu, and Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Mohammad Rabiul Faisal.
Government officials and stakeholders from the primary education sector were also present at the event.
