The government has adopted a 180-day action plan to deliver on its election pledges, the prime minister told the Jatiya Sangsad.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today informed the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) that the government has taken steps to prepare action plans for the next 180 days, the upcoming fiscal year, and the next five years to implement its election pledges.
“All ministries and divisions are undertaking necessary initiatives to formulate action plans for the next 180 days, the next fiscal year, and the next five years to fulfil the government’s election commitments,” he said.
The premier made the remarks while responding to a starred question from treasury bench lawmaker Tahsina Rushdir of Sylhet-2, with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed presiding over the session.
Tarique Rahman, who also serves as chairman of the ruling BNP, said significant progress has already been made in implementing several key manifesto commitments.
To support marginal and low-income families, he said the government has launched the ‘Family Card’ programme on a pilot basis, covering 37,814 women-headed households in 15 wards across 13 districts.
He added that steps have also been taken to introduce a ‘Farmer Card’ to ensure comprehensive assistance for farmers. Initially, the pilot programme will be implemented in 11 blocks under 11 upazilas in 10 districts across eight divisions through the Department of Agricultural Extension.
The prime minister further noted that agricultural loans of up to Tk 10,000 for farmers in the crop, livestock and fisheries sectors have already been waived as part of election commitments.
Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, honorarium allowances were disbursed to 9,102 beneficiaries—including 3,295 imams, 2,975 muezzins, and 2,604 mosque khadems, along with 114 Hindu priests and 83 sebaits, and 15 Buddhist priests and 16 deputy priests—through their bank accounts, he said.
On healthcare, he added that a project is awaiting approval to issue 2.5 million e-health cards in Khulna district under a pilot programme.
More details are expected.
