Starlink Makes Official Debut in Bangladesh
CA's Special Assistant Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb Announces Launch in Tuesday Facebook Post

Starlink has officially begun its operations in Bangladesh, following an announcement made Tuesday by Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, in a Facebook post.
“They informed me over a phone call on Monday (19 May) afternoon and confirmed the launch this morning via their X handle,” Taiyeb stated.
At launch, Starlink will offer two service packages—Starlink Residence and Residence Lite—priced at Tk6,000 and Tk4,200 per month, respectively. A one-time setup fee of Tk47,000 will cover equipment costs.
According to Taiyeb, both packages come with unlimited data and no speed caps, offering internet speeds of up to 300 Mbps. Customers in Bangladesh can begin placing orders starting Tuesday.
“This fulfils Sir’s (the Chief Adviser’s) goal of launching within 90 days,” Taiyeb said.
He acknowledged the relatively high cost but emphasized the value it brings: “This provides a sustainable premium alternative for accessing high-quality, high-speed internet.”
He added that businesses could expand into underserved areas lacking fibre or high-speed connectivity, while NGOs, freelancers, and entrepreneurs would benefit from reliable, year-round internet access.
The interim government has approved Starlink—an NGSO (Non-Geostationary Orbit) satellite internet service operated by Elon Musk’s SpaceX—to operate in Bangladesh.
