NCP to finalize charter and organizational structure soon
Following the official launch of the National Citizen Party, the young leaders who led the July uprising are now working on finalizing the party's organizational structure, slogan, declaration, and charter.

The National Citizen Party (NCP) is actively working to finalize key aspects of its structure, including the organogram, slogan, declaration, and charter, and expects to make an official announcement soon, senior party leaders told The Daily Star.
At the party’s launch event, several leaders ended their speeches with "Inquilab Zindabad" (Long Live the Revolution); however, the phrase has not yet been declared as the official party slogan. NCP leaders also clarified that Convener Nahid Islam’s "introductory speech" should not be considered the party’s official declaration.
The party is currently searching for a central office location, prioritizing three areas in Dhaka—Farmgate, Shahbagh, and Paltan. Additionally, initial plans include forming 17 wings to represent various professional and working-class groups.
The size of the central convening committee and its members are yet to be finalized, but the party is expected to have more than 200 members overall. At its launch event on Friday, NCP announced a partial 60-member convening committee and stated that the full central committee will be published later through a press release.
With the holy month of Ramadan beginning today, NCP leaders plan to advocate for measures to keep essential goods affordable for lower and middle-class citizens.
"We have just launched the party. After several meetings and discussions, we will finalize our programs," a joint convener of the NCP told The Daily Star on condition of anonymity.
Moving forward, NCP leaders plan to conduct organizational visits across districts and upazilas. They intend to meet with the families of those martyred in the July uprising and engage with the public to understand their concerns.
In a Facebook post, Hasnat Abdullah, chief organizer (Southern Region), and Sarjis Alam, chief organizer (Northern Region), announced plans to meet with people from their respective regions soon.
The party envisions an independent, sovereign Bangladesh where anti-fascist, pro-Bangladesh student movements will gain momentum in the districts. Alongside building its organizational structure, the NCP will continue advocating for an election to the constituent assembly to draft a new constitution.
"Our party is committed to rebuilding state institutions with a focus on democracy and justice. Bangladesh has not yet been presented as a true political nation—we aspire to change that," said Nasiruddin Patwary, the NCP chief organizer.
The NCP was officially launched on Friday in front of the Parliament building in Dhaka, with Nahid Islam as convener and Akhter Hossen as member secretary. Nahid resigned from the interim government to take charge of the new party.
In his introductory speech, Nahid emphasized that the NCP aims to be a genuinely democratic, egalitarian, and people-centered political force.
