NCC Calls Urgent Meeting This Evening
Earlier in the day, members of the commission held a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus to discuss the issue.

Uncertainty has arisen over the signing of the July Charter amid disagreements among political parties regarding its implementation.
In response, the National Consensus Commission (NCC) has called an urgent meeting with political parties at 6 pm on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, commission members met with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus to discuss the issue.
The charter—drawn from 84 reform proposals submitted by six separate commissions—is scheduled to be signed on Friday (17 October).
Final copies were sent to the parties on Tuesday night (14 October), but consensus has yet to be reached on the mechanism for implementation.
While the parties agree on holding a referendum to approve the charter, they remain divided over its timing and procedure.
According to sources, the National Citizen Party (NCP) has adopted a firm stance, insisting that reforms must be carried out through a “constitutional order”; otherwise, it will not sign the charter.
Similarly, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has not yet confirmed its participation, citing the lack of a clear implementation plan. Several left-leaning parties have also expressed reservations.
The BNP earlier proposed adding an extra clause to the commitment section, but the commission did not accept it.
Commission sources said Wednesday’s meeting aims to resolve these disputes and confirm which parties will proceed with signing the charter.
The discussions will be broadcast live on BTV News.
National Consensus Commission Vice Chairman Professor Ali Riaz confirmed that the emergency meeting will be held on Wednesday evening, following a preparatory session between the commission and the chief adviser.
