HSC, Equivalent Exams Pass Rate Drops Nearly 19%
The pass rate fell to 58.83%, down from 77.78% last year.

Results of the HSC and equivalent examinations were released on Thursday morning, showing an almost 19% decline in the pass rate and a more than 52% drop in the number of GPA-5 achievers compared to last year.
The results were announced by Professor Khondoker Ehsanul Kabir, chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, at a press briefing held at the Dhaka Board.
According to him, the pass rate fell by 18.95 percentage points to 58.83%, down from 77.78% last year. Over 5.8 lakh students failed the exams, including around 27,000 who were absent. No student passed from 202 educational institutions, up sharply from 65 in 2024.
Additionally, 69,097 students across 11 education boards—including nine general boards—secured GPA-5, marking a 52.64% decrease from 1,45,911 top-grade achievers recorded in 2024.
This year, a total of 12,35,661 students took part in the HSC and equivalent exams, comprising 6,11,446 boys and 6,24,215 girls. Around 27,000 students were absent, bringing the total number of examinees to just over 12 lakh.
