Pohela Boishakh Festivities Kick Off at 3pm with Colorful Music and Cultural Show

To celebrate Bengali New Year 1432, a vibrant concert lit up Manik Mia Avenue in the heart of Dhaka on Monday, infusing the capital with music, color, and cultural unity. The event, which began at 3pm, offered a rich tapestry of musical and cultural performances, serving as a dynamic tribute to Pohela Boishakh. A drone show is set to follow later in the evening.
Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki attended as the chief guest, with Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen present as the special guest. The event also drew ambassadors, diplomats, and high-ranking officials from both public and private sectors.
The festivities kicked off with a performance by Bandarban’s “Basic Guitar Learning School,” followed by engaging acts from the Garo community and the RNR band “F Minor.” A stirring group rendition of the classic “Eso He Boishakh” echoed the spirit of renewal.
Individual artists including Mithun Chakraborty and Palakar Islam Uddin delivered soulful solos, while Rakib and Sagar Dewan performed both solo and duet pieces—Rakib also teaming up with Ustad Arj Ali for additional duets. Atia Anisha captivated the crowd with three solo songs, including “Cholo Niralay.” Ahmed Hasan Sani followed with heartfelt renditions of “Majhe Majhe Tumi Ele,” “Manush Keno Erokom,” and “Golpo Na.”
The night crescendoed with Parsha’s powerful delivery of three songs, including “July Andolon,” before the band “Ashes” brought the energy to a peak with their high-octane finale.

The concert drew a spirited crowd dominated by young people, turning Manik Mia Avenue into a vibrant hub of joy and festivity. As music filled the air, attendees danced, sang, and celebrated together, adorned with flutes, ribbons, and festive attire. The pleasant weather only added to the charm of the event, making it a heartfelt welcome to the new year.
Dazzling Drone Show to Cap the Night
Capping off the celebrations, a drone show organized with support from the Chinese Embassy and in collaboration with the Bangladesh government is set to illuminate the night sky. The display aims to symbolize the enduring friendship between China and Bangladesh, offering a fitting finale to a day of cultural celebration and unity.
