Kuwait has reopened its airspace after remaining closed for two months
Terminals 4 and 5 will reopen from Sunday.
Kuwait has reopened its airspace at Kuwait International Airport from this evening after nearly two months of closure, with flight operations set to resume gradually, state-run news agency KUNA reported on Thursday.
The reopening marks the beginning of a phased resumption of services following a precautionary suspension imposed on 28 February amid regional tensions. As part of the initial phase, Terminals 4 and 5 will reopen from Sunday for selected destinations.
Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al Sabah, Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority, said the decision was made in coordination with relevant local and international authorities to ensure operations resume in line with the highest safety and security standards.
He noted that the move is part of a carefully planned, step-by-step approach to restoring air traffic, with full operations expected to resume in due course. Authorities added that damage assessments have been completed following what they described as an Iranian attack and actions by affiliated armed groups, while technical teams have carried out maintenance and repairs to restore operational readiness.
Initial flights will be limited to selected destinations based on operational priorities, with each phase subject to review before further expansion.
