“I feel very happy after casting my vote.”
A 60-year-old woman, Beauty Das, went to the Chattogram Railway Employees’ Girls’ High School polling centre on Thursday morning to cast her vote, accompanied by her 10-year-old granddaughter, Snigdha.
She reached the centre around 9:00am and voiced her satisfaction with the calm and orderly atmosphere.
Speaking to reporters, Das said, “Voting gives me peace of mind. I have difficulty walking, so I brought my granddaughter to help me. Although my family advised me not to go, I was determined to vote. I feel very happy after casting my ballot.”
Snigdha said, “My grandmother is unwell, so I brought her to the polling centre.”
The polling station, reserved for female voters, witnessed a significant turnout of women from the morning, with many turning up to exercise their franchise. Das’s presence highlighted the strong participation of elderly and female voters in the election.
The Chattogram Railway Employees’ Girls’ High School centre has 3,839 registered voters, and a large number of them were seen there since early morning.
Presiding Officer Mithu Bhaumik said voting has been taking place peacefully since it began.
