Mongla Port Achieves Milestone as Four Foreign Ships Dock Simultaneously

In a notable achievement for Mongla Port, four foreign commercial vessels have simultaneously docked at the port’s jetties.

According to a media release, the ships arrived at different jetties on Monday afternoon. The Panama-flagged MV Jupiter berthed at Jetty No. 5 with 4,083 metric tons of machinery goods, while the South Korea-flagged MV Marigold docked at Jetty No. 6, carrying 5,000 metric tons of molasses. The Hong Kong-flagged MV Han Hui took position at Jetty No. 7, loaded with 1,970.41 metric tons of steel pipes, and the Barbados-flagged MV Anka Blue anchored at Jetty No. 8, transporting 1,769.07 metric tons of machinery cargo.

In total, these vessels have brought 12,822.48 metric tons of cargo.

Beyond these four ships, Mongla Port is currently handling cargo operations for 14 additional commercial vessels at various locations, including two ships at Port Grind, five at Harbaria, and two at designated points for gas companies. These vessels are unloading diverse shipments, including machinery, molasses, steel pipes, rice, coal, clinker, and fertilizer.

Deputy Director Makruzzaman highlighted that dredging at the Outer Bar in the Bay of Bengal estuary has been completed, while work at the Inner Bar is ongoing. The increased channel depth now allows foreign vessels to dock directly at the port’s jetties, improving operational efficiency.

He further emphasized that the simultaneous berthing of four cargo-laden ships is a direct outcome of the port’s ongoing dredging efforts, demonstrating Mongla Port’s growing capability in handling international trade.
