CA Calls on Workers and Owners to Unite in Building a New Bangladesh

Reaffirming the interim government's strong commitment to building a new Bangladesh, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today called on both workers and owners to join hands in shaping this future.
He made the appeal while addressing a function at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center, held to mark both the historic May Day and National Occupational Health and Safety Day 2025.
Speaking as the chief guest, Professor Yunus said the mass uprising of July 2024—driven by the sacrifices of students, workers, and ordinary citizens—sparked a collective aspiration to create a new Bangladesh.
"A new Bangladesh cannot emerge if the conditions of workers remain unchanged, as they were in the old Bangladesh," he said.
Describing this aspiration as both a responsibility and a rare opportunity, the Chief Adviser noted that such a transformative vision had never before taken root in the country.
He emphasized the importance of implementing the proposals put forward by the Labour Reform Commission, stating that without them, the goal of a new Bangladesh would be unachievable.
“The recommendations of the Labour Reform Commission must be implemented without delay,” he urged. “Only then can we move on to tackle the more difficult reforms. We have begun this journey—and it will continue.”
Also speaking at the event were Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain, Labour Reform Commission Chairman Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed, and ILO Bangladesh Country Director Tuomo Poutiainen. The function was chaired by Labour and Employment Secretary AHM Shafiquzzaman.
