Bangabandhu National Stadium has been renamed.
The National Sports Council announced on Saturday that the Bangabandhu National Stadium has been renamed National Stadium, Dhaka.
This marks the first instance of the interim government renaming a national-level stadium.
Originally built in 1954, the venue was historically known as Dhaka Stadium.
In 1998, the Awami League renamed it Bangabandhu National Stadium after coming to power in 1996.
