On Sunday, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain met with Timor-Leste President José Ramos-Horta to discuss matters of mutual interest. The meeting, held at a Dhaka hotel, focused on strengthening the bilateral relations between the two nations. Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus is scheduled to have a one-on-one conversation with President Ramos-Horta later on Sunday, followed by a delegation-level discussion.

Dr. Yunus and President Ramos-Horta will hold a joint press conference at 12:15 pm on Sunday at the Chief Adviser's Office. During this event, both countries are expected to sign agreements, including visa exemption and a memorandum of understanding for Foreign Office Consultations (FOC).

Throughout his stay in Dhaka, President Ramos-Horta will participate in several high-level meetings and events designed to enhance the bilateral ties between the two countries.

Upon his arrival on Saturday night for a four-day official visit, he was given a red carpet reception. Chief Adviser Prof Yunus greeted President Ramos-Horta at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 10:40 pm, where a state salute and a guard of honor by a Bangladesh Armed Forces contingent were presented. The national anthems of both countries were played, and the President inspected the guard of honor.

President Ramos-Horta is accompanied by a 19-member delegation, including Timor-Leste's Foreign Minister. On Sunday afternoon, he will meet with Kutubuddin Ahmed, the honorary consul of Timor-Leste in Bangladesh, as well as Bangladesh Football Federation President and BNP leader, Tabith Awal.

On Monday, the Timor-Leste president will meet with the President of Bangladesh at Bangabhaban and visit the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar to pay tribute to those who fought in Bangladesh's Liberation War. He will also participate in the 54th Victory Day celebrations, marking Bangladesh’s historic victory in 1971.

On his final day, Tuesday, President Ramos-Horta will deliver a lecture at the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) auditorium on "The Challenges of Peace in the Contemporary World." He is expected to interact with Bangladeshi students and young leaders, sharing his experiences from Timor-Leste’s independence movement, the role of the people, and the country’s post-independence aspirations.

President Ramos-Horta will depart Dhaka later that day, concluding his visit, which aimed to strengthen diplomatic and cultural relations between Bangladesh and Timor-Leste.
