Another bomb threat reported at Dhaka airport
- The phone number has been identified as a Malaysian number. - This incident comes after a similar one that occurred on Wednesday.

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport faced heightened security late Wednesday night following a bomb threat received from a Malaysian mobile number, claiming explosives were inside the airport. In response, rigorous security measures were implemented, involving the Aviation Security Force (Avsec), the Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn), and other law enforcement agencies.
An army alert team was deployed overnight and conducted extensive searches but left the premises on Thursday morning after finding no evidence of explosives. Airport Armed Police Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kawsar Ahmed confirmed the intensified security measures.
Sources revealed that the threat was delivered via a mobile message claiming a large quantity of explosives was hidden in a bag inside the airport and could detonate around 2 a.m. The message reportedly included a photo of luggage and described the type of bag allegedly containing the explosives.
To address the situation, airport authorities launched a comprehensive search operation with assistance from the Air Force's Avsec unit, Quick Response Force (QRF), the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Dhaka Metropolitan Police's SWAT team, and other specialized units. Despite thorough searches, no explosives were discovered.
ASP Kawsar Ahmed stated that security at the airport has been tightened significantly, with all suspicious areas being inspected and passengers' luggage undergoing 100% scanning.
This incident followed a similar threat on Wednesday, where a Pakistani mobile number falsely claimed a Biman Bangladesh flight from Rome carried explosives. That incident also led to a six-hour search operation, which ultimately found no evidence of any device.
