UN chief says Rohingyas wish to return to Myanmar.

During his visit to the Ukhiya refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar on Friday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that the Rohingyas expressed their strong desire to return to their homes in Myanmar.

According to Guterres, this was one of their two key messages to the UN. He urged the international community to work towards restoring peace in Myanmar and ensuring equal rights for the Rohingyas in their homeland.

Their second message highlighted the urgent need for improved living conditions in refugee camps. However, humanitarian aid has been significantly reduced due to abrupt funding cuts by the US and several other donor countries, forcing UN agencies to scale back food rations.

Guterres pledged to make every effort to secure the necessary funds and prevent further deterioration of conditions in the camps. He also vowed to advocate strongly on the global stage for the Rohingyas, emphasizing their desperate need for international support to live with dignity.
