Days after the Jaffar Express train hijacking, militants carry out a suicide attack on a Pakistan military base, resulting in multiple casualties.

The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a militant group operating along the Afghan-Pakistani border, is suspected of carrying out a suicide attack on the Jandola military camp in Pakistan's Tank District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to multiple media reports.

Pakistani news outlet Geo News reported that following the attack near the Frontier Corps (FC) camp in South Waziristan, the Pakistan army killed eight to nine militants.

Police officials informed the media that a loud explosion was heard in Jandola, followed by intense gunfire. Militants attempted to storm the Jandola checkpost but were thwarted by Pakistani security forces. However, a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle near the FC camp, as reported by Geo News, citing security sources.

The attack comes just days after the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), another militant group, hijacked the Jaffar Express on March 11. The train, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar through the strategic Bolan Valley, was carrying over 450 passengers, including 200 security personnel. This led to a tense standoff between the BLA and Pakistani security forces.

On Wednesday, Pakistani forces announced they had eliminated all 50 attackers. According to military reports, the assailants killed 21 passengers, while the remaining passengers were safely rescued.
