Trump claims Putin has agreed to Western security assurances for Ukraine
“I believe European Nations will shoulder much of the burden,” Trump said.
US President Donald Trump said Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed during their summit last week to accept security guarantees for Ukraine as part of a potential peace agreement.
“At the summit, President Putin made an important commitment — Russia would accept security guarantees for Ukraine. This is a key element we’ll be discussing, including how responsibilities will be shared,” Trump said while opening talks at the White House with European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“I believe European nations will shoulder much of the burden. We’ll support them and ensure the arrangement is very secure,” he added.
