The UAE has been encouraged to remove visa restrictions for Bangladeshi citizens and increase worker recruitment.

Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus has called on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities to lift visa restrictions on Bangladeshi citizens and recruit more workers from the country.
Dr. Yunus concluded his visit to the UAE on Friday after attending the World Governments Summit in Dubai, where he invited Emirati companies to relocate their factories to Bangladesh.
During the summit, he met several UAE ministers to discuss issues of mutual interest, including visa restrictions for Bangladeshi nationals, trade expansion, UAE investments in Chittagong Port, and strengthening ties in sports and education, according to Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.
Following a proposal by UAE Trade Minister Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Dr. Yunus agreed in principle to establish an exclusive industrial park for UAE businesses in Bangladesh. He also highlighted Bangladesh’s potential as a Halal product manufacturing hub, leveraging its low-cost labor force.
Minister Al Zeyoudi expressed interest in leading a senior trade and investment delegation to Bangladesh in the coming months.
UAE Sports Minister Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi saw off Dr. Yunus at Dubai airport as he departed for home on an Emirates flight.
Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, Special Envoy Lutfey Siddiqi, and Senior Secretary Lamiya Morshed accompanied the Chief Adviser during the visit.
