Chinese Firm Safety Garments Bangladesh to Invest $12.25 Million in Mongla EPZ

Safety Garments Bangladesh Co. Ltd., a Chinese company, is set to invest $12.25 million in the Mongla Export Processing Zone (Mongla EPZ) to establish a premium garment manufacturing facility.

The company aims to produce reflective jackets, vests, t-shirts, fleece jackets, coveralls, and safety helmets, creating job opportunities for 1,616 Bangladeshi nationals, according to a statement from the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA).

Md Imtiaz Hossain, Member (Engineering and Investment Promotion, Additional Charge) of BEPZA, signed an agreement with Shi Yan, Managing Director of Safety Garments Bangladesh Co. Ltd., at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka today.

Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, BEPZA's Executive Chairman, attended the signing ceremony and expressed appreciation for the company's decision to invest in Bangladesh, particularly in Mongla EPZ. He reiterated BEPZA's commitment to ensuring a secure and supportive environment for investors.

Rahman also emphasized the importance of environmental protection and expressed confidence that the company would operate sustainably while achieving business success in the export processing zone.
