468 tons of Indian potatoes have arrived at Benapole

A total of 468 tonnes of potatoes have been imported from India through the Benapole Land Port in Jashore.
The shipment is expected to be cleared on Saturday (today).
On Thursday evening, a cargo train carrying the potatoes arrived at the port’s railway station from India’s Petrapole Port, said Station Master Saiduzzaman.
"The potatoes were shipped by Atif Export, based in India’s Malda, while Tata Traders from Rajshahi’s Chapainawabganj is the importer," he added.
The station master also mentioned, "The cargo train transported 9,460 bags of potatoes. The total import value of the shipment is $107,640, with a price of Tk 27.60 per kilogram."
Nazmul Arefin Jony, a representative of Alam and Sons, a clearing and forwarding agent at the port, stated: "The customs clearance documents will be submitted to Benapole Customs House on Saturday."
He further explained, “After the customs and railway procedures are completed, the potatoes will be unloaded either at Benapole Port or Noapara. From Noapara, the potatoes will be distributed to Dhaka, Chattogram, and other regions of the country."
Abu Taher, a revenue official at the Cargo Branch of Benapole Customs House, added: "The potatoes arrived from Jalandhar in Punjab. Once the importer submits the required documentation, the clearance process will proceed swiftly."
