Asif Nazrul: The July Uprising as an Ongoing Struggle of the Liberation War
He honored the intellectuals who became martyrs during the Liberation War.

Dr. Asif Nazrul, Adviser on Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, described the July uprising as a continuation of the Liberation War’s spirit, emphasizing the deep love for the country shown by the freedom fighters.
Speaking to reporters at the Martyr Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur on Saturday, Dr. Nazrul paid tribute to the intellectuals who were martyred during the Liberation War. “During the July uprising, students rose above personal ambitions to fight for democracy, human rights, and a society free from discrimination. Today, as we honor the martyred intellectuals, we reflect on their sacrifices and the values they upheld,” he stated.
Dr. Nazrul further remarked, “Despite the immense sacrifices made in 1971, we have not yet realized the dream of an ideal Bangladesh. This failure is due to a particular mindset and leadership shortcomings. We must ensure that such failures are not repeated. The sacrifices of our youth demand that we seize this second chance to build the nation we envisioned.” His remarks were part of nationwide observances honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country’s freedom and principles.
