Imran Khan’s sister says Operation Sindoor was a major success, while the Pakistan Army tried to conceal its failure

Noreen Niazi, the sister of jailed former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, has alleged that the country's military fabricated a "victory narrative" surrounding India's Operation Sindoor to conceal battlefield setbacks.

In a strongly worded interview, Niazi claimed that the four-day conflict did not unfold as Pakistan's military leadership and government presented it to the public. She described India's Operation Sindoor as a major success and accused the Pakistan Army of attempting to hide its defeat.

Her remarks quickly drew the attention of Pakistan's establishment. Within hours, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) summoned Niazi over allegations that she had circulated "false, offensive and inflammatory" content on social media targeting the military and state institutions.

The notice accused her of disseminating content intended to defame state institutions and promote "fake narratives."

Niazi also made two significant claims without providing evidence. First, she alleged that India refrained from further escalation because of a "tacit understanding" connected to Israel. She claimed the situation was linked to efforts to facilitate Pakistan's possible entry into the Abraham Accords as Islamabad moved closer to recognising Israel.

Pakistan is among the countries that do not recognise Israel and has no diplomatic relations with the country. The Abraham Accords, brokered by the United States in 2020, established diplomatic, economic and security ties between Israel and several Arab nations, including the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.

In her second claim, Niazi said the military confrontation that Pakistan's establishment referred to as Maarka-e-Haq was prevented from escalating further after US President Donald Trump personally intervened, allowing Pakistan's leadership to secure a face-saving exit.

Senior leaders of Pakistan's ruling PML-N government strongly condemned her remarks, saying they undermined the country's national interests.
