The death toll from measles and related complications in Bangladesh has climbed to nearly 800 since authorities began tracking cases and fatalities four months ago, as the outbreak continues to show no clear signs of slowing.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Tuesday that four more people had died with measles symptoms and 878 new suspected cases were reported in the past 24 hours.

According to the DGHS bulletin, 130 measles cases were confirmed between 8am Monday and 8am Tuesday, while no confirmed measles deaths were recorded during that period.

Since March 15, Bangladesh has reported 14,708 confirmed measles cases and 119,448 suspected cases, the DGHS said.

During the same period, 95 people died from confirmed measles, while 702 deaths were reported among suspected cases.

The DGHS also said that 98,411 patients have recovered so far.
