The government has constituted a three-member inquiry commission, led by High Court Division Judge Justice Md. Ali Reza, to investigate the attack on Gono Odhikar Parishad President and former DUCSU Vice President Nurul Haque Nur.
A notification in this regard was issued by the Cabinet Division last night. The commission also includes the Senior Secretary of the Home Ministry and the Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division.
According to the notification, the commission must submit its investigation report within 30 working days. Formed under the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1956, the body has been tasked with probing the August 29 attack that left Nur critically injured. He is currently receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, while the Chief Adviser has already instructed that he be sent abroad for advanced medical care.
The commission’s mandate includes identifying those responsible for the attack, recommending legal action against them, and suggesting measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
