The Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary has accused the Awami League of attempting to disrupt and undermine the upcoming national election process.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam today said there is no scope for any internal or external force to disrupt the upcoming national election.

“The people of the country will witness a peaceful, free, fair, and inclusive election. A festive atmosphere is expected to prevail nationwide centring the polls,” he told reporters before laying the foundation stone of a new building at Kushiara High School in Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla.

Shafiqul said some isolated attempts to create panic among the public through acts of sabotage have been observed ahead of November 13, with several incidents of arson attacks on transports reported in parts of the capital.

He said a transport worker was killed in one of these incidents, adding that law enforcement agencies are investigating each case seriously to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Accusing the Awami League of trying to sabotage the election, the press secretary said, “This fascist political party is proving its addiction to terrorist activities by inciting arson attacks across the country. However, the national election will be held in the first half of February, and no domestic or foreign force will be able to stop it.”

Shafiqul noted that while there may be political differences, all parties are preparing for the election. He mentioned that BNP has already nominated candidates for 237 seats, while Jamaat-e-Islami is also fielding its own candidates.

Despite the differences, he said, everyone wants a festive and participatory election.

Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jamal Hossain, among others, were present at the event.
