Police use batons and water cannons to disperse protesting teachers at Shahbagh
Today, police used batons, water cannons, and sound grenades to disperse teachers protesting at Shahbagh against the cancellation of their appointments as assistant teachers in government primary schools.
According to our photographer at the scene, protesters started gathering at the Shahbagh intersection around 11:00 am. In a statement, the demonstrators explained that the recruitment process was carried out in three phases, with appointments completed for the first two phases. However, no decision has been made regarding the third phase. "A total of 6,531 candidates were included in the final merit list but have yet to receive their appointments. We urge the authorities to resolve this issue immediately," the statement read.
