NSC Removes Isfak Ahsan as BCB Director; Female Replacement Likely

The National Sports Council (NSC) has removed M Isfak Ahsan from his position as one of its nominated directors to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), as it moves to appoint a woman in his place.
Sources told Daily Sun that the NSC is preparing to name a female director to replace Isfak, marking a rare instance of female representation in the BCB boardroom. Isfak had been elected unopposed from the NSC quota during Monday’s BCB board election, along with Yasir Mohammad Faisal Ashik. His removal came less than 24 hours after the election results were announced.
Earlier, newly elected BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul had emphasized the need for gender balance within the board, suggesting that constitutional reforms could follow.
“Look, the law in cricket changes every year. With the new law, playing conditions also change. But our constitution doesn’t change. So we will try to bring some changes,” Bulbul said after the election. “The biggest change we should bring is that our cricket board is male-dominated. We need female directors to ensure gender equality. We need independent directors. We will work a lot on that.”
Bulbul, Bangladesh’s first Test centurion, was re-elected as the 20th BCB president on Monday, with former captains Faruque Ahmed and Sakhawat Hossain serving as vice presidents.
