Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Monday called on Bangladesh’s youth to harness their talent, energy, and creativity for the nation’s progress, stressing that no challenge will remain unresolved if they stay active and engaged.

“May your achievements not be limited to personal success but also serve as an inspiration for others. I believe that when the youth are active, no problem in the country can remain unresolved,” he said at the Youth Volunteer Award 2025 ceremony at the Chief Adviser’s Office.

Prof Yunus urged young people to become pioneers of fresh policies, innovative ideas, and social transformation, adding that their united efforts would help Bangladesh emerge as a developed, humane, and innovative nation.

Congratulating the awardees on behalf of himself, the government, and the people of Bangladesh, he also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for organizing the event.

“Today, we celebrate the power of youth — the driving force of our nation. When young people are active, energetic, and strong in innovation, no obstacle can hold back progress,” he said.

Citing youth contributions in healthcare, environmental protection, poverty reduction, and social justice, Prof Yunus highlighted their pivotal role in the 2024 mass uprising and in shaping the country’s history.

“New challenges will always arise — from health crises to educational barriers and environmental disasters. But instead of losing hope, we must confront them together with our strength. I trust our youth will continue to lead in this journey,” he said.

He described volunteerism as a path to self-growth, character development, and leadership, urging the youth to go beyond volunteer work and establish themselves as policymakers, innovators, and agents of change.

“Every small step in health, education, or the environment can bring transformative results. These small efforts will ultimately pave the way for great achievements,” he said.

Acknowledging the struggles of volunteerism, Prof Yunus noted that the journey requires patience, resilience, and tolerance but eventually shapes true leadership and leaves lasting impact.

He emphasized that young people must build confidence, acquire skills, and develop leadership qualities to rise as innovators and changemakers.

“Today’s award is not only recognition, it is a call to be more courageous, to lead with new ideas, and to work for the welfare of society,” he said.

Prof Yunus added: “Your active participation can bring countless positive changes. A small initiative in healthcare can save thousands of children from disease. A modest effort in education can uplift the quality of learning nationwide. Your collective action in environmental protection can secure a safe and green future for generations to come.”

He reminded the audience that every small effort contributes to major achievements for the nation.

“I know the path of volunteering or undertaking great initiatives is never smooth. It demands sacrifices of time, resources, and mental strength. But through this journey, you will develop patience, tolerance, and true leadership,” he said.
