Prime Minister arrives at parliament to attend its first session.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has arrived at the Sangshad Bhaban to attend the first session of the 13th Parliament.
“The 13th session of the National Parliament is scheduled to begin at 11:00am today. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has reached the Sangshad Bhaban to join the inaugural sitting,” the prime minister’s press secretary, Saleh Shibly, told BSS.
Earlier, on February 23, President Mohammad Shahabuddin summoned the session for March 12.
The president, also the head of state, convened the session under the authority granted by Article 72(1) of the Constitution.
According to the Constitution, the president must convene the first session of a newly elected parliament within 30 days of the publication of the gazette notification of the election results.
