The Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo on Tuesday held a discussion with Japanese journalists to exchange views on Bangladesh’s upcoming parliamentary elections and referendum scheduled for February 12.

Journalists from various Japanese media outlets attended the meeting, where Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md. Daud Ali briefed them on the country’s political and electoral landscape, according to a press release.

In his presentation, the ambassador highlighted preparations for the parliamentary elections and referendum, the relevant constitutional processes, and the government’s commitment to ensuring the democratic exercises are conducted in a transparent, inclusive and credible manner.

Fourteen journalists representing about nine leading Japanese media organisations took part in the discussion.

Following the briefing, the ambassador engaged in an interactive question-and-answer session, responding to a wide range of queries on electoral procedures, political developments and issues of interest to the international community.

The meeting served as a platform for open dialogue and helped enhance Japanese media representatives’ understanding of Bangladesh’s democratic processes.

The embassy also reiterated its commitment to continued engagement with international media and stakeholders to ensure the accurate and timely dissemination of information on issues of national importance.
