Jamaat Engages in Dialogue with Consensus Commission

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami participated in talks with the National Consensus Commission on Saturday morning as part of ongoing efforts to build national agreement on state reform.
The discussion, chaired by Commission Vice-Chairman Prof Ali Riaz, began at 10:30 am at the LD Hall of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. A 10-member Jamaat delegation, led by Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, attended the session.
The National Consensus Commission launched its dialogue with political parties on March 20, aiming to build broad support for reform initiatives introduced by the interim government.
So far, the Commission has engaged with 16 political parties, including the BNP and the National Citizen Party (NCP).
Established on February 15, 2025, under the leadership of Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, the Commission was tasked with forging a unified national position on key reform agendas.
In its first phase, the Commission consolidated recommendations from five major reform bodies — covering constitutional, public administration, electoral, judicial, and anti-corruption reforms — and distributed them to 39 political parties for input. Thirty-four parties have responded so far.
The Commission plans to conclude its initial round of talks by the first week of May, commence a second round shortly after, and work toward achieving national consensus by mid-July.
