Govt to mark August 5 as Student-People Uprising Day.

The government has decided to declare August 5 a public holiday to commemorate Student-People Uprising Day.
The day will be observed officially every year.
The decision was made at a meeting of the Council of Advisers held today at the State Guest House Jamuna.
Following the meeting, Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki announced the decision at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy.
Farooki stated that a preliminary decision has been taken to observe August 5 as Student-People Uprising Day. The proposal will be placed before the cabinet in its upcoming meeting on Sunday, and a gazette notification is expected to be issued on Monday.
He added that with August 5 becoming a national day, the Student-People Uprising Day will now be celebrated annually.
Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam also attended the press briefing.
