Economic, Energy Ties Top Agenda for CA’s Doha Visit: Press Wing

Bangladesh will prioritize strengthening economic and energy cooperation with Qatar during the upcoming visit of Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said on Monday.
Prof Yunus was scheduled to depart Dhaka for Doha on Monday evening for a four-day official visit at the invitation of Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani to attend the Earthna Summit 2025.
“The Chief Adviser will deliver a speech at the Earthna Summit 2025 and participate in a series of engagements,” Alam told reporters during a media briefing at the Foreign Service Academy. Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder and Senior Assistant Press Secretary Foyez Ahmmad were also present.
Prof Yunus and his delegation, including Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman, Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, and SDG Affairs Principal Coordinator Lamiya Morshed, are set to leave Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7:00pm.
The Chief Adviser’s itinerary includes meetings with the Amir of Qatar and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed, as well as engagements with Qatar Charity, Qatar Foundation, and an interview with Al Jazeera.
Highlighting Bangladesh’s long-term LNG import agreement with Qatar, Alam said discussions will focus on expanding energy cooperation. An investment summit on April 23 is also expected to yield positive outcomes.
Visa-related matters and the Rohingya crisis will feature prominently in the talks. Prof Yunus will lead a major conference on the Rohingya issue with international stakeholders, as part of the interim government's efforts to renew global attention on the matter.
The Chief Adviser is expected to return to Dhaka in the early hours of April 25.
