Milon says Bangladesh-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor will open a new horizon in education
Milon says Bangladesh-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor will open a new horizon in education.
ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, adviser to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, today said the “Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor” programme will usher in a new era of cooperation in education and research between the two countries.
“We believe this initiative will elevate bilateral relations to a new level through student and teacher exchange programmes in higher education,” he said.
Milon made the remarks as chief guest at the inauguration of the second phase of the “Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor” programme and the opening ceremony of “Education Expo-2026” held at a hotel in the capital.
He said that under the first phase of the programme, 74 Bangladeshi students are already pursuing higher studies in Pakistan, adding that the second phase will also create significant opportunities for talented students.
Highlighting the quality of Pakistani universities, he noted that Bangladeshi students are receiving the opportunity to study there free of cost, which he described as highly commendable.
He also said the monthly stipends provided for accommodation and living expenses would enable students to concentrate fully on their studies.
Referring to the cultural ties between the two nations, the minister said Bangladesh and Pakistan share many similarities in religion, culture and food habits.
Mentioning that Bangladesh currently has 116 private and 57 public universities, Milon expressed hope that Pakistani students would also come to Bangladesh for higher education in the future.
He emphasised the need to strengthen joint academic collaboration and teacher exchange programmes between universities in both countries. Praising the transparent scholarship selection process, he said Pakistani authorities were conducting the selection in an exemplary manner, allowing students to demonstrate their merit through competitive examinations.
“Our ministry will extend all necessary support in organising these examinations,” he added.
Among others present at the event were Imran Haider, Education Secretary Abdul Khaleque, representatives of the Higher Education Commission and senior officials of the University Grants Commission.
