Gold Prices Surge; Per Bhori Rate Rises to Tk232,930
Under the revised rates, the price of 21-carat gold has risen by Tk9,448.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised gold prices in the domestic market, increasing the price of 22-carat gold by Tk9,856 per bhori (11.664 grams).
According to a BAJUS statement, the revised rates came into effect at 10:00am on Thursday. With the latest adjustment, one bhori of 22-carat gold now costs Tk232,930, including VAT.
BAJUS said the decision was approved by its Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring during a meeting, with the updated rates announced through a press release on Thursday morning.
Under the revised pricing, the rate of 21-carat gold has gone up by Tk9,448 to Tk222,491 per bhori, including VAT.
The price of 18-carat gold has increased by Tk8,106 to Tk191,056 per bhori, while traditionally crafted gold now costs Tk156,064 per bhori after a Tk6,590 hike.
The latest increase comes less than a week after BAJUS revised gold prices on July 31, when it raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,216 per bhori to Tk223,074. That rate remained effective until 9:59am on Thursday.
BAJUS has also revised silver prices upward.
The price of 22-carat silver has been increased by Tk292 to Tk4,899 per bhori, including VAT. The price of 21-carat silver has risen by the same amount to Tk4,666 per bhori, while 18-carat silver now costs Tk4,024 per bhori following a Tk233 increase.
Meanwhile, the price of silver produced using the traditional method has been raised by Tk175, taking the new rate to Tk3,033 per bhori, including VAT.
