Prime Minister to visit Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar today

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar today, marking his first trip to the two districts since assuming office following the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

The prime minister will depart Dhaka by helicopter on Sunday (9 August) and fly to Matarbari in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar, according to his Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Rony.

As part of his official itinerary, Tarique Rahman is expected to inspect the Matarbari Deep Sea Port, the coal-fired power plant and ongoing activities of the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority (MIDA) at around 10:30am.

He will later attend a flood rehabilitation programme at the West Banshkhali High School and College field in Baharchhara Union, where assistance will be provided to people affected by the recent floods.

At around 1:30pm, the prime minister is scheduled to land at Pehelgazi Dighi field in Fatikchhari upazila before travelling to Al-Jamiatul Islamia Azizul Uloom Babunagar Madrasa. There, he is expected to pay a courtesy visit to Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari and visit the grave of the late Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi.

Tarique Rahman is scheduled to take a short break at the Chattogram District Council Dak Bungalow in Hathazari at around 3:45pm.

Later, at 5:00pm, he will attend another flood rehabilitation programme at Hathazari Government College field.

In the evening, the prime minister is scheduled to join an organisational meeting at the auditorium of Radisson Blu Hotel in Chattogram.

After completing his engagements, Tarique Rahman will leave Chattogram for Dhaka and is expected to return to the capital later tonight.
