Turkey Calls on Russia and Ukraine to Stop Black Sea Strikes

Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Saturday called for a “moratorium” on Russian and Ukrainian attacks in the Black Sea following a series of incidents involving civilian vessels.

Speaking to Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency, Fidan proposed establishing a mechanism that would allow a moratorium on such attacks to be declared.

“The conflict has spread across the whole Black Sea,” he said, noting that attacks initially focused on ports and military vessels but had increasingly expanded to commercial shipping.

Fidan said civilian vessels were now being targeted without distinction, including ships owned by Turkey or operating under the Turkish flag.

Turkey had already condemned drone attacks on two Turkish civilian vessels in the Black Sea on Tuesday. The incidents, which occurred the previous day, left several crew members injured.
