An Iranian source said the United States has agreed to unfreeze Iranian assets held in Qatar and other banks
An Iranian source said the United States has agreed to unfreeze Iranian assets held in Qatar and other banks.
A senior Iranian source said on Saturday that the United States had agreed to release Iranian assets frozen in Qatar and other foreign banks, describing the move as a sign of “seriousness” in efforts to reach a deal with Washington during talks in Islamabad.
The United States has not publicly commented on the issue of unfreezing the assets.
The source, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, said the decision to release the funds was “directly linked to ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz,” which is expected to be a key issue in the discussions.
