“E-Bail Bond” system a milestone in the judiciary’s digital transformation: Asif Nazrul
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul today described the E-Bail Bond management system as a milestone in the digital transformation of the country’s judiciary, saying it has significantly enhanced transparency, accountability and efficiency in the bail process.
“The E-Bail Bond system marks a major step forward in judicial digitalisation. In Narayanganj, it has received an overwhelmingly positive response, with 100 percent of bail bonds now being submitted online,” he said, adding that the system is being continuously refined based on user feedback to make it more accessible and efficient.
Dr Nazrul made the remarks while virtually inaugurating the E-Bail Bond system in eight more districts from his secretariat office this morning.
The system has been rolled out in Manikganj, Bandarban, Meherpur, Joypurhat, Moulvibazar, Panchagarh, Jhalokathi and Sherpur, aiming to address long-standing delays, remove bureaucratic obstacles and strengthen transparency in the bail process.
He noted that before the introduction of the digital system, accused persons often faced multiple manual procedures even after bail was granted, leading to unnecessary delays, added financial burden and severe mental distress for both them and their families.
“In many instances, people remained in jail for days or even weeks despite being granted bail. There was little transparency or accountability, and it was difficult to determine where delays occurred,” he said.
Under the new system, once a judge digitally signs a bail order, the bail bond is automatically and instantly transmitted to the jail authorities.
“As a result, detainees are now released within a few hours or, at most, within a day. The system records who signs what and when, ensuring complete transparency and strong accountability,” he added.
The adviser also said the initiative has reduced unnecessary time loss, financial costs and mental suffering for litigants, lowered travel expenses for accused persons and their families, and helped the government save on prison management costs.
The E-Bail Bond system was first launched in Narayanganj on October 15, 2025, and has been operating successfully since then, he said.
