Dr. Zahid says Khaleda Zia’s condition has remained unchanged for the past three days
A medical team comprising specialists from Bangladesh, the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and China is overseeing her treatment collectively.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, has said her health condition has remained stable for the past three days and that she is able to undergo the treatment being administered.
Speaking to reporters outside Evercare Hospital in Dhaka’s Bashundhara residential area on Saturday night, Dr. Zahid—who is also a BNP standing committee member—said the hospital has arranged the best possible medical care for her. A team of specialists from Bangladesh, the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and China is jointly overseeing her treatment.
He added that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, is in constant contact with the medical team, while Tarique Rahman also receives regular updates on her condition.
“The doctors are fully responsible for her treatment, and they are doing everything they can,” Dr. Zahid said. “Allah is the ultimate healer. I call upon everyone to pray for her.”
He further noted that the medical board may consider sending Khaleda Zia abroad for treatment if her condition permits, saying any decision in this regard will be shared at the appropriate time.
