New Pay Scale Gazette to Be Issued on Sunday

The much-awaited gazette notification for the new national pay scale will not be issued today (Thursday), despite an earlier announcement that it would be published by the day.

Finance Ministry officials said the issuance has been delayed as some additional formalities are still being completed.

A Finance Ministry official said the draft of the Ninth National Pay Scale-2026 has already been sent to the Bangladesh Government Press (BG Press).

Sources said the draft will undergo the required procedures before being sent for legal vetting and final publication with an SRO number.

Finance Secretary Khairuzzaman Majumder told reporters that the gazette notification for the Ninth National Pay Scale-2026 will be issued on Sunday (September 6).

The Cabinet approved the new pay structure last Monday. Meanwhile, the government is taking steps to arrange the funds needed to implement the new pay scale.

Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani said the required funds had already been incorporated into the Medium-Term Budget Framework (MTBF).

As a result, he said, implementing the new pay scale would not create any unexpected financial pressure on the government.
