Voting has been suspended in the Pabna-1 and Pabna-2 constituencies
The halt to voting in the two constituencies was implemented in accordance with a court order.
The Election Commission has suspended the 13th National Parliamentary Election in the Pabna-1 and Pabna-2 constituencies due to complications over constituency boundaries.
The suspension of voting in the two constituencies has been implemented in line with a court order.
Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud said that, following an order from the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, all electoral activities in Pabna-1 and Pabna-2 will remain temporarily suspended until further directions are issued by the court.
Earlier, after a High Court verdict, the Election Commission issued a revised notification on 24 December reinstating the previous constituency boundaries for Pabna-1 and Pabna-2. However, on 5 January, the Appellate Division stayed that part of the notification.
After hearing a petition filed by a candidate, the Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury, ordered that the stay would continue until the petitioner files a leave to appeal.
