Council of Advisers clears 2 ordinances, 3 proposals.

The Council of Advisers, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, approved two ordinances and three proposals at its meeting today, held at the Chief Adviser’s Office in Tejgaon, according to a press release from the Cabinet Division.
The council gave final approval to the drafts of the National Sports Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 and the Moheshkhali Integrated Development Authority Ordinance, 2025.
Among the proposals cleared was the establishment of a new Consulate General of Bangladesh in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The council also approved the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for setting up a mission of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Bangladesh.
Additionally, Bangladesh’s accession to the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (OP-CAT) received approval.
The council reviewed the country’s current flood situation and the government’s response measures. It was also briefed by the Ministry of Water Resources on the finalization of the design for the Musapur Regulator and Bamni Closure, the permanent dam project in Feni, and the need for canal recovery and improved drainage in Noakhali.
