Chief Adviser Calls on Qatari Investors to Explore Opportunities in Bangladesh

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has called on Qatari investors to seize the growing opportunities in Bangladesh, highlighting the country's vast potential and ongoing reforms aimed at fostering a more business-friendly environment.
Speaking at a programme titled “Bilateral Investment Opportunities Between Qatar and Bangladesh” in Doha on Wednesday evening, the Chief Adviser emphasized the Interim Government’s commitment to building a “New Bangladesh” — one that is transparent, corruption-free, and welcoming to foreign investment.
“Bangladesh is now back to business, and back to business in a big way. We want your partnership,” he said, recounting Bangladesh’s successful experience in attracting Norwegian telecom giant Telenor, which turned into one of the company’s most profitable ventures.
The event featured presentations by BIDA Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury, who outlined key investment opportunities and recent regulatory reforms, and Energy Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan, who detailed how the Interim Government reduced the country's debt from $3.2 billion to $600 million, including settling all outstanding payments to Qatar Energy.
The programme also heard from Qatar’s Deputy Under Secretary for Industry and Business Development Saleh Majed Al Khalafi and Next Smart Solutions co-founder Ali Ben Fardj. Bangladesh Forum Qatar President Azad Ashraf opened the session, while Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Qatar, Nazrul Islam, delivered the closing remarks. Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain was also present.
