BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman announced on Wednesday that the party is exploring the introduction of an unemployment allowance aimed at educated individuals who remain jobless.

“We are developing a plan to offer financial support to educated youths who have not yet found employment,” he said while virtually addressing a workshop centered on the party’s 31-point state reform proposal.

According to Tarique, the proposed allowance would be provided for up to one year, during which time the government would work to facilitate employment opportunities. Recipients would also be encouraged to actively seek work during this period.

The workshop, organized by the BNP Training Affairs Committee under the title ‘31-Point State Structure Reform Proposal and Public Engagement,’ targeted the party’s organizational units in Rangpur, Nilphamari, and Saidpur.

Tarique urged party members to bring the 31-point reform plan directly to the people, emphasizing the importance of public outreach regardless of political views. He stressed that gaining widespread support is key to realizing the reform agenda.

“Today’s discussions focused on matters vital to the nation's interest. To safeguard those interests, we must implement the 31 points,” he said.

Highlighting the role of public support in politics, Tarique noted, “The people are the real strength of any political party. Seeing our rallies grow and public participation increase inspires us. As political workers, we seek public backing and strong electoral mandates for our candidates.”
