Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus today called on young people to form 'Three Zero Clubs' to help rescue the planet from impending environmental and societal collapse. Speaking at a lecture at Soka University in Tokyo, Dr Yunus warned that the current model of civilization is unsustainable, describing it as "self-destructive" and incapable of supporting life in the long term.

He emphasized the urgent need to adopt his "Three Zero" philosophy — zero carbon emissions, zero wealth concentration, and zero unemployment — arguing that the relentless pursuit of profit is accelerating planetary decline. "Today, the majority of the world’s wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few," he said, calling this imbalance a "curse for all."

Addressing the youth, Dr Yunus proposed that groups of five could initiate 'Three Zero Clubs' by pledging not to use fossil fuels and committing to climate-conscious actions. He urged the new generation to embrace creativity and entrepreneurship over traditional employment paths, saying that the quest for jobs often stifles imagination.

"Human beings are born to be entrepreneurs. Without creativity, we are nothing," he said, encouraging the formation of social business clubs as a way to foster innovative, socially driven entrepreneurship.

Dr Yunus also recounted the beginnings of his microcredit initiative in a village near Chittagong University, where he once taught economics. In recognition of his pioneering work in social innovation and global development, Soka University awarded him an Honorary Doctorate Degree. University President Suzuki also addressed the event.
