Bangladesh-Pakistan Business Forum Kicks Off in Dhaka

Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin and Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Syed Ahmed Maroof jointly inaugurated the Pakistan-Bangladesh Business Forum 2025 in Dhaka today, aiming to boost bilateral trade and commercial collaboration.
According to a press release, the Forum welcomed a visiting multi-sectoral business delegation from Pakistan, representing industries such as textiles, sports goods, sportswear, and maize.
In his remarks, Adviser Bashir Uddin stressed the need for deeper engagement between the business communities of both nations to unlock untapped trade potential and build sustainable, mutually beneficial economic ties. He expressed optimism that the Forum would create new pathways for trade, investment, and partnership. "We have shared goals and shared aspirations. We need to find enablers, and I am sure there are many opportunities which can resonate and create true business opportunities," he said.
The Adviser assured participants of the Interim Government’s full support to facilitate increased trade between the two countries.
High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maroof highlighted the complementarity of the two economies and emphasized the importance of reducing trade barriers, promoting investment, and strengthening business and people-to-people linkages to drive mutual prosperity.
Two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed at the Forum—one between the Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association, and another between the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association (PHMA).
Business leaders from both sides expressed confidence that the Forum would pave the way for identifying new areas of collaboration, fostering direct engagement, and expanding trade and commercial ties in the near future.
